EL PASO, Texas – With the end of the 2009-10 sports season at UTEP, Miner Illustrated will be moving to a summer format in which articles will be posted five days a week (Monday through Friday).
We will have a writing schedule that will bring you a litany of opinion, analysis and plenty of football on Fridays. We will still break news on weekends as it arises and introduce a bevy of new guest writers as well.
MI will return to a seven-day format once football resumes towards the end of August. Until then enjoy this diverse schedule of content through May, June and July.
Mondays: ”Random Thoughts”
Everybody hates Mondays but MI is giving you one reason not to with an open forum for the MI staff or guest writer to express their feelings about anything sport or Miner related. So bring your opinion, take a stand and be fierce in explaining your thoughts.
- Please be sure to keep the word count to under 800 words. MI may edit the opinion pieces for clarity and brevity purposes.
- Please put your name and town, Ex. John D., El Paso, Texas. All entries without a name and town will be deleted.
Fan-related opinion pieces may be sent to show@minerillustrated.com with the subject line: “Opinion Piece”

The MI staff will breakdown the UTEP basketball team, position by position, give you an analysis of each player and let you know what to look forward to for the upcoming season.
Wednesdays: Pete’s Quarry Podcast
Another reason to love “hump day”. The only online podcast dedicated to fill you in with the latest information on UTEP Athletics. Throw in a few national topics and you’ll be set for the for the rest of the week.
Thurdays: The Scouting Mine
MI’s own Carlos M. Silva Jr., along with the MI staff, will gather all of the newsworthy links regarding UTEP that have gone unnoticed on the Internet while also giving a rundown of the recent weeks recruiting notes and quotes with analysis.
Fridays: Football Friday
What a way to end the week. Expect anything and everything related to UTEP basketball for the end of the week. Just because spring practice ended doesn’t mean the pigskin conversation has to.

I am glad that you are requesting fans to post their abreviated name and hometown.
it will keep the foul language and insults out of the blog and those who want to ratchet up the talk into harsh words, etc…
