EL PASO, Texas – For many UTEP sports, the summer provides ample times for campus to be held so that children across the city can learn and refine skills in their respective sport.

UTEP Golddiggers

The UTEP Golddigger’s dance team will be holding a summer dance camp this week for kids ages 5-18 at Champion Dance Studio located at 12410 Montwood Drive.

The annual dance camp which had been held on the university campus in previous years is moving to the eastside of town this year. It is geared towards boys and girls who love to dance and kids and teens interested in dancing competitively some day.

The camp will be held from June 22 to June 25. There is a registration fee of $60.00 which is due the first day of camp. Campers will be divided into two age groups.  Camp for age five to 10 will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and then will resume at 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for ages 11-18.

Men’s Basketball

The inaugural edition of Tim Floyd Basketball Camp will be held June 28-July 1 at the Don Haskins Center.

“We’re looking forward to meeting some of the youngsters in the community,” Floyd said. “We want to expose them to different levels of teaching and fundamentals. More importantly, we’re looking at potential future students. We hope they come and have a wonderful time on campus and gain a familiarity with the University of Texas at El Paso.”

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-18. Coach Floyd and his staff, along with Miner players, will be on hand for a fun-filled learning experience.

The cost is $225 per camper for four sessions (9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day). A special $200 rate is available for UTEP employees and military personnel. A complimentary T-shirt is included with registration.

Check-in will take place on June 28 at 8 a.m. at the south tunnel of the Haskins Center. Parents, family and friends are welcome to attend all sessions.

Women’s Basketball

Keitha Adams and her staff will be having basketball camps beginning June 21.

The Mini Miners camp is for all basketball players grades K-6. The activity-based, fun-filled camp provides individual attention to Miner Miners and stresses coordination and skill improvement. A basketball and t-shirt are included.

The Teen Camp will teach skills specific to each court position. UTEP head coach Kietha Adams and selected coaches from the El Paso area will show camp participants how to improve their averages and their games. A basketball and t-shirt are included.

Finally, the Team Camp will consist of a a varsity division and a JV/Freshman Division. Team camp is open to girls entering grades 7-12. Each team is guaranteed five games and can attend a lecture from UTEP  head coach Keitha Adams. A basketball and t-shirt are included.
