Softball Announces 2012 Schedule

El Paso, Texas – UTEP softball co-head coach James Rodriguez announced the 2012 spring schedule on Monday. The Miners are set to participate in four tournaments and their full slate includes 18 home and 18 away dates.

The Miners open their season at home on Feb. 9 when they take on Santa Clara in a doubleheader.

UTEP will participate in their first of four tournaments starting on Feb. 10 when they head to Las Cruces, NM for the Hotel Encanto Tournament hosted by New Mexico State. The Miners will then travel to Lafayette, LA to participate in the Mardi Gras Classic.

The Miners will return home to face I-10 rival New Mexico State on Feb. 21 in their final home game of the month. The Miners will end February at the 2010 Texas shootout where they will face Stephen F. Austin, Baylor, Texas Tech and Texas State starting on Feb. 24 in Waco, Texas.

UTEP will wrap up their tournament play when they host UT San Antonio, Brown, Iowa State and Valparaiso at the UTEP Invitational. The tournament will take place from March 2-4.

The Miners will remain at home and welcome Evansville for a three game series on March 6-7. They will kick off their Conference USA schedule when they host Southern Miss. on March 10-11. UTEP will then travel to Houston and East Carolina and return home to face Marshall and UCF.

Taking a break from their C-USA slate UTEP will host Nevada for a short two game series on April 12. They will continue conference play in Memphis starting April 14 followed by facing UAB at home April 21-22.

The last road trip of the regular season will take the Miners to Tulsa, Okla. to face the Golden Hurricane on April 28-29 in a three game series.

The regular season will end at home for the Miners when they face UNM for their final three games on May 1-2.

The C-USA tournament is scheduled to start on May 10 in Birmingham, Ala.
