From the looks of things, Tim Floyd really has things going in the right direction in terms of the recruiting front and that’s great news for Miner fans.

As per recruitdirt.com SF Kenny Williams (6’6″) from Saint Louis, MO (Moberly C.C.) commited to UTEP yesterday.

The top men’s basketball player in NJCAA Region 16 from a season ago, Florissant Valley’s Kenny Williams, has transferred to Moberly Area Community College to play with the Greyhounds, according to a recent report from KRES Radio in Moberly.

Williams was a third-team All-NJCAA selection in 2010-2011, averaging 22 points and 14 rebounds per game for the Norsemen. He lost the opportunity to return to that school after the decision was made this spring to consolidate the three basketball playing schools in the St. Louis Community College system (Flo Valley, Forest Park, and Meramec) into one team. That team will play their games at Forest Park Community College and be nicknamed the “Archers”.

In football recruiting news…

UTEP is showing a lot of interest in QB Marshall Williams (6’5”, 195 pounds 40/4.7) from Flower Mound, TX (Flower Mound HS). Williams has received interest from Arizona, LSU, Oklahoma, Perdue, Texas, Texas A&M and UCLA among others, however Williams has no official offers yet.

Williams is a pocket quarterback with good athleticism and size. He’s very accurate and can throw in tight spaces. He has average arm strength with great touch and timing. Williams also played receiver as a sophomore.

Recruiting Guru Tom Lemming on Williams: “Marshall played WR as a junior showing great hands, deceptive speed, and proved to be a precision route runner. I watched him throw this past winter and was very impressed with his arm strength, quick setup, and even quicker release. Has what it takes to become a big-time QB and possibly even a four or five-star player. He throws a nice, catchable ball and has that soft touch that the scouts love to see in a flame thrower.”
